Back in 2016, Apple announced the AirPods, the company’s first Bluetooth wireless earbuds after months of leaks and rumors. The release of the AirPods marked Apple’s move away from its traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, which was met with controversy. Like Apple’s traditional earbuds, the AirPods allow users to reply to a phone call or listen to music.
Apple has never specified how many AirPods units have been sold so far. But we are expecting an estimate of 20 million units shipped. What sets the AirPods apart from their rivals lies in their Siri integration. This means that you can control your music playback using your voice command. It has been nearly three years since Apple first introduced its wireless headphones. And there is no mention from Apple about the successor. However, rumors regarding the next generation AirPods have been around for months, hinting at a new design and an improved audio sound.
In September 2017, Apple unveiled the AirPower, the company’s first charging mat that allows users to quickly re-charge their iPhone. In reality, the AirPower was initially set for 2018 release, but there was no word on the release date. Earlier this year, sources said that the AirPower officially entered into production and was ready for release.
According to Ming-Chi-Kuo, an analyst who is best known for his accurate predictions when it comes to Apple’s new products, Apple will launch the new AirPods and AirPower at an event on March 25. This seems plausible seeing that Apple announced the new iPad in March 2018. Besides, there will be a new streaming service platform at this year’s March event. In reality, Apple has been long rumored to work on its own TV service for years in an attempt to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, sources say that Apple will be struggling to take on those giants.
Kuo also believes that Apple will upgrade its iPod Touch at the event. It’s been 4 years since Apple released the 6th generation iPod Touch to the market, and there is no word from Apple on the 7th-gen model. The new iPod Touch is rumored to come with a new design and hardware at launch.
