Skype is among the most used messaging apps on the market. First debuted back in 2003, Microsoft’s messaging app quickly gained its popularity among users and tech experts worldwide. Skype is now widely used for business worldwide. Besides, small organizations or startups are adopting the app to make their communication much easier.
Microsoft has been improving Skype since the launch day in an attempt to offer a better user experience. However, it seems that the Redmond company is rushing to beat out other rivals by adding small upgrades to its messaging app. In reality, Skype is falling behind the Messenger and WhatsApp out there as it lacks a bunch of exciting features.
One of the most anticipated Skype features was video recording. In reality, video recording feature has been part of Messenger and WhatsApp for years. And Microsoft does not want to get left behind in the fight. Microsoft is fully aware of that and the company finally added the ability to record video calls to Skype.
Specifically, back in July 2018, the Redmond company introduced the video recording feature for Skype following months of beta testing. Microsoft claims that video call recording will hit all platforms this year. However, the feature only hits Mac and Linux at launch, which hints that Microsoft needs more time to work on it.
According to Microsoft, video call recording will be rolling out Android and iOS devices. The company says that the feature will come alongside Skype’s latest software update which is set for this month release. Tech experts claim that the feature supports the modern versions of iOS and Android. Therefore, users need to update their iOS to get the feature.
The video call recording is a great addition to Skype. However, the feature is not available on Windows 10 at this moment. Microsoft says that the feature will hit Windows 10 in the coming months. As the name suggests, the feature allows users to record their video calls. The company says that everyone in the conversation will be notified that they are being recorded.
Besides, users can save and share their recorded video calls for 30 days. Sources say that Microsoft will improve the feature in the coming months to take on competitors on the market. To record video call in Skype, open the Skype app from your home screen, then go into a conversation and hit the “+” sign. Now just simply choose Start Recording.
