Huawei reportedly working on its own 710 chipset

Huawei reportedly working on its own 710 chipset

Huawei is currently one of the largest smartphone makers in the world. The Chinese firm is doing pretty well in business, shipping hundreds of millions of smartphone units every year. Huawei has gained its popularity among US-based users for years and the company has its own ground to compete directly with Apple and Samsung.

Huawei is showing the world that it is not just about low-cost phones, as the company is also offering premium phones. However, sources say that Huawei’s main focus still stays with mid-range smartphone segment to target emerging markets like India or China.

Reports today claim that Huawei has been working on its own mobile chipset named the Kirin 710 to take on the Snapdragon 710 from Qualcomm on the market. The Snapdragon 710 is the latest Qualcomm’s mobile processor that offers a much-improved performance over its predecessors out there.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 710 processor is manufactured using the 10nm process, allowing for less power consumption and more under-the-hood power. Sources say that Huawei’s chipset will act as an upgraded version of the 659 version, which means that the process will retain the same battery life at launch. However, the new chip will allow for better and smarter AI.

Huawei has not made any announcements about the chipset. However, the company recently hinted at its existence. Sources say that the company will launch new chip in July along with its new phone called Huawei Nova 3.

Huawei is facing a lot of competition in the Chinese market. Other big names like Xiaomi or Oppo are adding new features to their phones. The upcoming Huawei Nova 3 will put Huawei in contention with the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE on the market that features the Snapdragon 710.

Rumors say that Huawei has been working on new premium phones for months and is now ready to launch it to the public. However, it seems that the new devices will target the US market at launch. Besides, the company may release an affordable device that boasts the Kirin 710 at launch. Reports say that Huawei may hold a launch event in China to release its new chip.
