As its name suggests, handwriting mode lets you write whatever you want with your fingers to compose your own messages that can be sent to your friends and families. However, if you find handwriting mode annoying, you can easily turn it off on your iPhone.

Steps to disable handwriting mode in the Messages app in iOS 10

Step one: First off, you are supposed to launch the Messages app from your home screen and head to a conversation where you want to send a handwritten message to your friends and families

Step two: Once you are done, all you need to do is to put your iPhone in landscape orientation to access a white canvas in the Messages app

Step three: If you want to hide that white canvas, you simply need to tap on the keyboard icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen

Step four: Once you are done, white canvas will disappear and display conversation in landscape mode

Steps to turn on handwriting mode in the Messages app in iOS 10

If you change your mind, you can easily turn it back on in the Messages app in iOS 10. Here is how you can do this:

Step one: Open the Messages app and head to a conversation

Step two: Next up, you need to tap on the text field to access virtual keyboard. After that, tap on the globe icon to get to iOS’s built-in keyboard

Step three: Once you are done, all you need to do is to rotate your iPhone to landscape orientation

Step four: Tap on the handwriting icon in the bottom right corner of the keyboard. This will hide your keyboard and display a white canvas where you can write whatever you want with your fingers
