However, that does not mean you cannot own some of the best features of iOS 10 on iOS 9 running on your iPhone/iPad.
In this article, we will introduce you some features of iOS 10 that you can bring on your iOS 9 devices. Some features do not require jailbreaking, but other features need jailbreaking to work. This requirement is mentioned in each of the features mentioned below.
- Raise to wake
Besides HTC, iPhone users can now use ‘raise to wake’ feature. Your iPhone’s screen will come on when you pick it up. With iOS 10, iPhones are finally integrted the feature but if you want to have ‘Raise to Wake’ on iOS 9, your device needs to be jailbroken and install a tweak named FaceOff, which can easily download free from Cydia’s BigBoss repo.
- Home App For HomeKit
Apple brings a HomeKit app called “Home” to iOS just like the one that is available from a third-party developer on the App Store. The Smart Home Automation is what you want if you cannot install iOS 10 yet.
- Lock screen widgets
Widgets on the lock screen is one of the biggest changes in iOS 10 and jailbreakers can own this feature from Cydia via an app named DopeLock. With DopeLock, you can recreate the magic of iOS 10. However, to install this app, you have to pay $0.99 for the BigBoss repo.
- Memory And Face Recognition in Photos app
The Photos app on iOS 10 brings some Google photos like image recognition capabilities. It can also pick out photos that are particular importance to you. However, you do not have to wait until September for that, because Google Photos app can do it all now. Fortunately, it is available on the App Store

- Colorful toggles in Control Center
It may not be an awesome thing, but colorful buttons in Control Center add a touch of much whimsy in iOS 10. A jailbreak tweak called Cream can bring the exact same feature to iOS 9. The tweak is free on the BigBoss repo source.
- Hide or delete stock apps
One of big changes on iOS 10 is the ability to delete stock Apple apps; and you can do this on iOS 9 with the AppHide tweak. The tweak can be downloaded free from Jerry En’s repo at cydia.jerryen.com.
- Handwriting and stickers for iMessages
Two features- handwriting and stickers that make iMessages interesting in iOS 10 are now available for iOS 9 if you have jailbroken your device. A tweak is Grafiti and another is StickerMe. Both of them are from BigBoss source.
