This year, Apple released the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with some daring changes ranging from the removal of the traditional headphone jack to the addition of a dual-camera system. For some users who were expecting an iPhone model with an overhauled design, this year’s iPhone obviously let them down. However, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus could be Apple’s first step for its special iPhone planned for next year when it celebrates 10 years of iPhone.
There have been a lot of rumors hinting at iPhone 8’s impressive specs and new exciting features ranging from OLED display to new Touch ID. The latest rumors today claimed that Apple might launch a 5-inch iPhone model next year with dual camera setup similar to what we already seen with this year’s iPhone 7 Plus. Today’s rumors run counter to the previous reports claiming that dual camera system will be exclusive to a premium iPhone 8 next year with OLED curved display.
However, the new dual camera setup on 5-inch iPhone will be arranged vertically to maximize internal space for the new device. According to sources, the new 5-inch iPhone will feature the same specs as the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Previously, rumors said that the next iPhone would come with a plastic curved display and Apple last month ordered plastic OLED panels from Samsung Display. Samsung is also expected to provide around 70 million to 80 million curved OLED displays for the next year’s iPhone models.
In terms of specs, the next year iPhone will be fueled by Apple’s latest A11 chip based on TSMC’s 10nm fabrication process. Besides, Apple is expected to bring back the all-glass design, which was once fan-favorite on the days of iPhone 4, while retaining dust and water resistance feature. Some rumored features include wireless charging, iris or facial scanning. However, rumors are just rumors and all we have to do now is to wait until the new iPhone releases in September 2017.
